To any ComStar forces still alive. I do not know how long it will take before, or if, you receive this transmission. But it is sent it in hope you will. This the CSV Oberon, we are alive. A surprise attack by the Word of Blake damaged our KF Drive and we have mis-jumped to region beyond the Caliban Nebula. We have minimal resources and less than a hundred souls aboard. It will take several years before we can reach Tukayyid but we will not give up. We will not abandon you. I wish you well in the conflict with the traitors. Have faith, the Oberon survives and we are coming.

This is the CSV Oberon. ComStar's most advanced warship. The Oberon was designed upon the template of the Star League's own Titania class Battlecruiser.

The Oberon is a 1,700,000 ton warship, with armour greater than its predecessor and a deadly amount of firepower including more than 50 AR-10 launchers and over a dozen Gauss Cannons along a compliment of over 80 Fighters and 9 hardpoints for dropships.

The design is is also equipped with a VVA System which protects the forwards quadrant of the craft by sealling the prow as seen here.

Oddly elegant, but I guess I can attribute that to the planet backdrop and the lighting. The lighting and background make it harder to see the absolutely gigantic nose guns, so I guess that helps a bit. Makes it seem a bit less threatening.

Thanks, I wanted to try and make the design look beautiful in a serene kind of way. It easy to look at it and see a beautiful but devastatingly powerful warship, but to make it look as helpless and lost, as the crew find themselves in is not easy when your ship looks (figuratively) like it's just two seconds away from ripping your arms off and clubbing you to death with them.

Heh, well, it worked. It's actually hard to see it helpless and lost, unless you began trying to show actual damage on the ship. Like one of the fore armor sections completely missing, trails from one of the engines, etc.

But it's really hard to see past it just being lost instead of helpless. Really hard. You did too well in making it devastating, methinks.

now there's an a idea, the Oberon after a hard battle. Broken and battered but still victorious.

Hmm, never considered that.. or had I? :D

Heh, well, it'd sort of help with the helpless part. But it would be interesting to see what you'd picture as a wounded ship, especially how much damage you think it could take before it looks more like it was mauled.

Awesome! I like hearing that kind of thing. Heh. Wounded, not broken. Somehow, it tends to make some things even more awesome than usual.

It's on my list after the ones I've already got to finish. I've got one of the Titania that's giving me real pains but should, with luck, look really good but bad at the same time.
