The hunt for F-01 begins by dsherratt74 The hunt for F-01 begins by dsherratt74
It's not the usual kind of thing you'd expect to see from me but it is still pretty cool.

Some of you will recognise this other's will not. For those that don't this is Professor Hagen's 'X-Project' better known as the X-Bomber from the 80s Japanese puppet series of the same name. In the UK and US this show was called Star Fleet.

Been working on this model for a long time, two weeks went into building it and another week creating the texture maps. not to mention several weeks collecting reference marital.

I hope those who remember the show as fondly as I do will appreciate it.

Shout out to :iconcolourbrand: for his support and advice in my efforts to create this model. Cheers sir. :D

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!! Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!!!!!!!

I feel like a little boy again! WAY AWESOME DUDE!!!!!! May God repay you for this marvelous deed!!!!

I loved those wonderful puppets!!!!

I am speechless! What an excelent job!!!!
It´s weird to see so much detail though ... all those that have seen the tv show remember certainly the lack of picture quality ... but who cared about that?! The story was wonderful ... and so is your work dsherrat74!

Job well done!

These were really great images you made up. My only memory of this show was from the grainy imaged dvd I had long ago.

Thanks I'm glad you like them. When time permits me to finish them I have a couple more Star Fleet models in the works.

Glad you like it. :D

But my X-Bomber story hasn't finished yet. I've still got one more ship I intend to make and I have some more Star Fleet images and other things planned in the weeks and months to come. Including something I hope many fans of the original series will be thrilled by.

Tank you very much. I put a lot of work into this, while you can't see it in this image all the parts are there from the hinging neck to the laser cannons contained within.

More shots of this wonderful ship to come soon. :D

This is your best ever render - and I mean that.

This is far more hefty than the original ship - the textures are very muscular here and gives the ship a beefyness.

Glad I could help but the achievements are all yours.

I think this is the start of a lot of better things to come :D

Something tells me this is the beginning of stunning ships....!

Thanks. I'm very proud of the way this came out both in terms of the image and the model. It took a long time to do and I think it paid off in spades. But I wouldn't sell your contribution short. You may think it was insignificant but the finished thing wouldn't look as half as good as it does without your input.

And yes there are better and bigger (and badder)to come.

I'm sure you noticed Braincom, Mainbody and Legtrax are missing... and if we go that far... well. Bigger is not just a word. :D

I remember seeing that show once back in the 80's. This is the first time I've seen anything from that since I saw it.
Neat.

Yeah it was a great show, really revolutionary in the UK/US market, with a storyline you'd never see nowadays in a kids show. Unfortunately it does seem many have forgotten it or have never heard of it.

glad you like this, There's more from the show to come.

Your texture work is getting better and better. I do like shape and scene in which you put it. Only a minor nitpick and that would be that the planet has no atmosphere.

Oops. I forgot to re-enable the atmosphere layer before saving the file. I've fixed it now.

I'm glad you like it. This is the first time I've ever attempted to do a model with full UVW texture mapping. was a lot of work but I think the end result turned out really well.
